The Maynard Historical Society Collection
The Maynard Historical Society has collected literally thousands of documents, photographs, artifacts, and memorabilia pertaining to the history of Maynard and its residents.
Temporarily located in Clock Tower Place, the Collection is undergoing its first major survey and cataloging since it was created over 30 years ago. During 2009 the cataloging and digitization of the Collection is taking place through the efforts of Society volunteers.
While the ultimate goal is to make a significant portion of the Collection available online for research, education, and history buffs alike this is not likely to happen until 2010 or 2011. Until then we will be making certain key items available here.
We also encourage you to follow the Maynard History Blog and Podcast which provides weekly updates on what's happening with the Collection and highlights items from the survey and cataloging project.
Note: several of the items here are large files and should be downloaded to your computer. You can download a file by right-clicking on the link (or control-clicking if you have a Mac) and selecting the "Download" or "Save" link option.
All documents are in Adobe PDF format. If you download the file and can't read it, make sure you have the Adobe Reader software installed on your computer. It is a free download from Adobe.
Audio recordings are distributed in MP3 format, which is playable by nearly every computer and digital music player.

Recordings and Films
We have a collection of audio recordings and movie films that are being digitized. Until we formally catalog the items the digital versions of these will be a bit "informal", i.e., they are part of our podcast series.
"An Evening with Frank Mark and Roy Helander" - This is a recording in our collection of a Historical Society program from November 1988 -- yes, 20 years ago. Roy interviews Frank Mark, who immigrated to Maynard from Finland in 1916. At the time Mr. Mark was 85 years old. (MHS Podcast #2)
"Maynard Stories with Ralph Sheridan" - A 1994 interview of Ralph Sheridan hosted by Dr. Donald Kennedy. In 3 parts: [Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] (MHS Podcasts #5, #7, and #8 respectively)
