The purpose of the Food Pantry is to provide food assistance to any individual or family in need. We are committed to providing the greatest degree of confidentiality with the least amount of information being requested of our clients. Although the Maynard Food Pantry has been established primarily to help Maynard residents, we will not refuse assistance to residents of other towns.

Program Activities

The Maynard Food Pantry provides non-perishable items consisting of canned fruits, canned vegetables, pasta, baby food, cereals, rice, soups, canned meats, beverages and health care items to our clients.

The Maynard Food Pantry is open on Mondays, 10 AM to 12 noon for our clients to shop for food items free of charge. It is located at 12 Bancroft Street (Coolidge School) at the rear of the building. The Food Pantry is handicap accessible. We request a letter from a clergy person, social worker, etc after a client's fourth visit and regularly request updates of these letters.

Residents of Maynard are allowed to shop two times per month. Clients who living in the surrounding towns can shop once per month. If any individual or family is need of food assistance on a weekly basis, they may also shop at the local food pantries in Acton, Stow and Sudbury during the weeks they are not shopping at the Maynard Food Pantry. The Maynard Food Pantry also provides Thanksgiving and Holiday dinner baskets for clients.

Approximately 80 % of our clients (including many children) live in Maynard. On a weekly basis, we will assist between 30 to 35 families. We allow them to shop for quantities of food based on the size of their household. 

Help us help others

We are a non-profit 501C3 corporation, operated totally by volunteers. The Board of Directors is made up of Mary Brannelly, President, Ken Demars, Robert Gilligan, Barbara Horman, Terry Herring, and Maureen Monsen.

Approximately 40 Food Pantry volunteers assist in stocking shelves on Friday mornings, operating the Food Pantry on Mondays for our clients, picking up food donations from various locations throughout town, picking up grocery orders on a regular basis and assisting with food drives throughout the year.

Close to 100% of our funding is utilized to purchase food to keep the Food pantry well stocked for our clients. We receive funds from a variety of sources including the Maynard Community Chest, Project Bread, United Way and quite a number of individuals, local companies and local organizations.

The Maynard Food Pantry is also the recipient of many annual food drives in town. They include the Boy Scout food drive (November), Cub Scout food drive (January), Girl Scout food drive (March), Green Meadow Breakfast food drive (May) and Post Office food drive (May). Additionally, many organizations and companies will hold food drives for our benefit.

Donations are always greatly appreciated and should be sent to the address below. Anyone interested in volunteering or in need of information pertaining to needed assistance should call Mary Brannelly at (978) 897-8340. The Food Pantry is open on Fridays from 10 AM to 12 noon to receive food donations from the general public. If this time is inconvenient, other arrangements can be made by calling the same telephone number.
